i have to agree with the kids, too. i never understood parades as a kid. just seemed strange that people were marching one after the other. why were they doing that?

maybe some of the cartoon balloons in the macy's parade were cool, but then there's those stupid broadway songs with people lip synching. and the boring banter of the network hosts.

sorry, just don't get the parade thing!

I agree with your kids, Jenny. Parades have always bored me to tears. Of course, I actually do have ADD, not technology induced, unfortunately. So, there is my excuse. I can sit for hours in front of the computer screen, installing programs and reinstalling various types of hardware but don't ask me to sit watching a parade for more than 5 minutes. That is what I call cruel and unusual punishment. I think I would rather drive a hot poker into my eye.

I was surprised, though, that I actually enjoyed myself at this years Gay Pride parade. I have always wanted to go and finally made it this year. I think I got through it because I didn't just sit there and watch the floats go by. Instead, I walked down the street the entire time and stopped periodically to watch more interesting parts of the parade.

Amen. They are already doomed to have wandering eyeballs when a good friend is telling them about a deeply traumatic experience that requires major focused loving attention, which will of course, be absent. There will be no therapists coming out of the ADD generation! But I must admit, I wasn't interested in the Macy's TG Parade either when i was a kid. How in the world did you sit through it? BORING!
